We watched the opening match, South Africa versus Mexico, at the local pub. The tensions were high and South Africans were in full force behind their team. When the South Africans scored that first goal the place erupted, as most likely the whole country did. I also got fully into the spirit of things at that point. It was amazing.
I was very fortunate to get to the game on opening match at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday night. Although the Uruguay versus France game was a bit of a snoozer, the experience was great. The stadium in Cape Town is massive and it was a full house, 64,100 people in attendance.
Walking home from the stadium was organized chaos. People were celebrating all over in the streets and in the clubs and bars. What an amazing atmosphere, and well managed by the SA police and organizers.
That’s awesome Mike :)I was going to FB you to see how the festivities were going over there. Sounds like a party lol.
