Went to see the legendary experimental music artist Jeff Mills last night at the Polish Combatants Hall.   It was the first time I had been out in Toronto in a couple years and it was great to be at a totally new venue.  Bumped into a number of friends I have not seen in years!  It was also neat to see many familiar faces amongst the crowd.  Toronto has a friendly and vibrant music community and I miss exploring new sounds with good people.  One of the greatest perks of the venue is that they had a fantastic assortment of Polish beer.   🙂

Mills’ set was interesting to say the least, and ranged from pure ambiance, to audio voiceover, and then his usual rhythmic pulsing bass.  The set was themed around the idea that we are not alone in the universe and various clips of ufo eyewitnesses were mixed in amongst the music.  It was hard to tell how he was coordinating his visuals with the music, but it was well done thorughout, providing an audio and visual experience I have not seen before and thoroughly enjoyed.

My goal is to make you see my view, to make you believe what I believe so you’ll never be the same. And when the time comes and Aliens invade Earth, only to take the ones that “believed,” you’ll thank me. — Jeff Mills
