A few pictures from last weekend which involved a quick trip to one of the many islands accessible from Nanaimo. Gabriola Island is one of the Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia about 5 km by ferry East of Nanaimo. We spent the day walking the island trails and found our way to the famous Malaspina Galleries. The Malaspina Galleries are large coastal sandstone formations which have been carved out by the elements over many years. They are quite dramatic and beautiful to explore and well worth the trip to Gabriola Island.
