Took a day trip to Tofino this weekend with my friends Kim and Matt. Tofino is about 200 kilometres from Nanaimo so it was a lot of driving! Beautiful drive though as you cross the island north of Parksville and head inland to Port Alberni. Past Port Alberni you head up into the mountains and pass numerous glacial lakes, rivers and majestic snow capped mountains. Crossing the mountain range you descend upon the West coast of Vancouver Island beginning at Long Beach. Long beach is a popular spot for surfing even through the winter months.
We had an amazing lunch at the Wildside Cafe which was recently featured on the show “You Gotta Eat Here!”
