Wesley Ridge Cameron Lake (19)

A quick trip on Wesley Ridge up above Cameron Lake a couple weeks back. We departed the city at 1pm on Saturday for a quick one night stay on the ridge. I have done this hike many times as a day trip, but was excited about the opportunity to stay over on the ridge. This was my first overnight backpacking trip in which I gained elevation and camped upon a ridge. Once up on the 800 or so metre ridge we found a lovely east facing lookout, overlooking the Straight of Georgia, Horne Lake, and the Gulf Islands of Denman and Hornby.  The temperature dropped significantly as the sun set, bring us a cool evening and night.  We did not have a fire on the ridge due to the dry conditions and windy weather, as a result as soon as the sun set we hit the sack.

The following morning we broke camp, continued along the ridge, summiting Mount Wesley, then descending to the CP Rail line above Cameron Lake.  We walked back alone the rail line, crossing some dodgy bridges above Cameron Lake before returning to our cars early in the afternoon.
