Paddling out of Tofino, we crossed over to Vargas Island and travelled up the West side of the island to explore the wide and expansive beaches.
I recall on the first day encountering some of the most complex water I have experienced between Vargas and Wickaninnish Island as the swell met the islands. I can best describe the waves as diamond shaped, so rather than coming in at a consistent direction, they were rising up out of the sea all around you. It was a challenging section, but it was short, and the weather otherwise was perfect.
