Had the most amazing lunch at 96 Winery Road restaurant just outside Somerset West in the Cape Winelands last week.  96 Winery Road is a favourite of mine after being recommended by friends who were in town and have been frequenting the establishment for 10 or so years. There is a winter special now on at the restaurant offering a 3 courses from the A la Carte menu plus a glass of wine for a very reasonable price.

Pictures above are from the Guardian Peak Winery, where we stopped for a quick tasting before having lunch.

To start, I had the Little Seafood Platter which includes a taste of miso salmon, open prawn ravioli and deep fried calamari.

For my main I had the Marinated Lamb Rump with roast sweet potato and parsnip purée and popped tomato salsa.  This was amazing !

For dessert I tried the Dalewood Cheese Board which features local Jersey cheeses with home baked oat cookies and preserve.

My friends opted for the 96 Winery Road Dessert Platter which has a taste all of their finest desserts, on a single platter.  Clockwise from top, Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate cake, Crème Brulée, Espresso Cheesecake, French Apple Flan and a drop of Sorbet in the middle.

Highly recommend 96 Winery Road for a meal in the wine country, get the special while it lasts!
