Since you don’t graduate every day I decided to go all out and celebrate at 96 Winery Road by going through their tasting menu. It was a delightful mix of flavours and tastes and the portions were just right. Each dish was paired with a lovely wine.
Mozzarella Pinwheel – rolled with griddled vegetables and basil pesto paired with Ken Forrester Sauvignon Blanc 2010
Nobu Style Sashimi – line fish topped with hot sesame oil, spring onions, ginger, soy reduction and wasabi mayonnaise paired with Ken Forrester Chenin Blanc Reserve 2010
Asparagus and Hazelnut Salad – maple roasted bacon and soft boiled duck egg paired with Ken Forrester Renegade 2006
Basil Sorbet
Lamb, Rosemary and Garlic Kofta – on homemade linguini with tomato and olive sauce paired with Martin Meinert Devon Crest 2005
“Hollandse” Pepper Fillet – rolled in crushed peppercorns, pan fried in a rich cream and brandy sauce paired with Martin Meinert Synchronicity 2006
Lemon Posset Pudding – with an almond tuile paired with something “sticky”, i.e. dessert wine
