After the conference I opted to stay in Vancouver and look around for the weekend. I had to switch hotels so moved to the Empire Landmark at the north-west end of Robson street. I quite enjoyed this neighborhood, it was close enough to downtown and next to a large Korean community. The Empire Landmark feels like an old hotel; from the details in the rooms to the structure of the building, including the revolving rooftop restaurant. It was a lovely stay regardless and the views both from the room and the rooftop were awesome.
On Saturday I popped over to Mountain Equipment Co-op on West Broadway to get some West Coast gear. I then walked back downtown through Granville Island. Granville Island is a small island between downtown Vancouver and mainland Vancouver which houses a number of farmers markets, restaurants, marina, Emily Carr University, a brewery and tons of parkland.
At the end of the day, I enjoyed a cold beer at the top of the Empire Landmark as the sun set on a gorgeous day in Vancouver 🙂
