It is amazing what Cape Town can pull off. There’s a couple thousand people enjoying a concert in the Company Gardens, Green Market Square has been transformed into a giant arena for watching the rugby – and afterwards served as the Carnival after party space, and thousands lined Long Street to watch the annual Carnival. Sometimes I can barely find the energy to keep up with this vibrant city! The Carnival was sensational in every way, from the music, costumes, energy, creativity, respectful crowd and great services.
Here is a taste of the Carnival:
Hundreds of people in Green Market Square watching rugby!
Massive disco ball hung over the entrance to the carnival
Crowd
Mayor Dan Plato and local government open the carnival
It begins!
About 50 Harley Davidson motorcycles roll by
Animated unicorn skeleton
Giraffe skeleton – very lifelike in movement
Dinosaur skeleton
Here comes the samba squad!
Miners in gumboots
Full on Bollywood production
Women dancing in sari’s
Representing the Camp’s Bay crowd
This was by far my favorite – everything under the sea!
