Another great day trip up the island to Cathedral Grove Forest in the MacMillan Provincial Park.  The park is about 45 minutes north of Nanaimo and features the gigantic 800 year old Douglas-fir trees iconic to British Columbia.

On the way up we stopped by the amazing Coombs Country Market, which happens to be in the middle of nowhere but features an awesome assortment of gourmet ‘foodie’ goodies (I was thoroughly impressed with their assortment of hot sauces).  Bought some  Rooibos tea and ginger candies, great vibe!

Cathedral Grove was an amazing experience.  We hiked among the massive fir trees around the side of Cameron Lake.  We encountered a small glacial run-off river flowing into Cameron Lake and the water was more clear then I have ever seen!
